hellO!

So, Esther Yam is coming to India tomorrow :) yaay. gonna take her around fo shiz.
finally seeing her after 5 months? yeees!
ESTHER YAM, WELCOME TO INDIA, YET AGAIN. MUAHAHAHHAA.

so um ive been reading loads of books lately. I read The Time Traveller's Wife, Her Fearful Symmetry (both by Audrey Niffeneger), Les Miserables, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Alice In Wonderland and through the looking glass (meh it was okay), Perfume: the story of a muderer, and I'm currently reading Freakonomics.

In my HONEST opinion,
Les Miserables was REALLY good. I read that book right after Perfume. I'm going to assume that Perfume was a translation from a french book, hence the simplicity in the writing style (in fact, too simple), hence it made Les Miserables look pretty damn good.
Perfume had a REALLY good storyline. like the movie. the way they got into the mind of this guy, and how he made perfume out of human, epic, really. But, I think the author (or translator, whatever, just DROPPED the information onto the reader rather than letting us read.)
Les Miserables was really good. Read it. read it. read it. (if you havent already)

Breakfast at Tiffany's was just as vague as the movie. I mean, its a good movie to watch but i wouldn't really reccomend you to read the book. One thing i can say is that it stuck to the movie's script like glue. pretty bimbo at parts, but an okay read all in all. i didn't like Holly's chacracter very much in the book.

Alice in wonderland and through the looking glass. I know youre wondering why the hell am i reading this piece of nursery crap? It's the classic veriosn, fyi. but all in all, its a pretty easy read reccomended for the younger readers, but its good to know the BIG difference from the cartoon and the book. I was reading it to anticipate Johnny depp's new movie next year ;)
but, i really enjoyed this book. its an easy to pick up and to get lost into Alice's world of fiction and fantasy. *the walrus & the carpenterrr* haha favourite poem in the book. Oh, the poems get pretty damn gruesome towards the end, so i think maybe not quite for young readers. gotta love them poems.

The Time Traveller's Wife. Ahh, solid. very solid. good read! It actually made me think about time travelling and wonder if it could happen. I didn't enjoy someparts, i loved most.. it's possibly the best sci fi kinda book ive read (i really hate these science based books, where its about time travel and space and stuff but this is not too bad) i heard was a movie, i didn't get to catch it. oh wells. i will on dvd. but it was a good book. I couldn't put the book down for the time i was reading it (it took me forever to read breakfast at tiffany's even if it was a thin book, btw, but it took me no time to finish this thick book)
there was a part in the book after *SPOILERS* claire gives birth to Alba, and they start talking about her. i love that part. i actually gasped out loud when Henry died. i actually did. i was in a bus, and everyone turned and looked. HAHAH. *END OF SPOILERS*

Her Fearful Symmetry
ahh, another good book. but towards the end there's this huge twist which got really tangled and mixe d up, that some parts couldn't even happen, but i guess somehow or rather... (ahh, i shouldn't spoil it for you) cut the long story short, it was good, but not as good as time traveller's wife. the twins in the story are a little creepy, to be honest. The ending was a little expected though.

Freakonomics
I'm about 3/4 done with the book. i like it, i really do. It gives a different look to economics. and how once approaches things. Rushil says its really pessimistic. (i don't see HOW) haha some chapters are really funny, and some are just, far fetched. im almost done, and the best part of the book is that ther'es an index. teehee.

NEXT book im gonna read:

Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath; Eat Love Pray; SuperFreakonomics.

yay!

what have YOU been up to lately?

Much Love
Emily

If in hadnt been working out lately I would feel immensely guilty. That's alot of indulgence!

Been pretty bust lately studying for exams & managing my time... Gonna sit for a bio paler in about three hours, wish me luck!

P.s: I hope nothing much comes out from the animal kingdom chapter. Jesus Christ, I hate that chapter. No one needs to know who rules the animal world! Arrrghhh!

In 38 hours and 10 minutes, Jacqueline Wong Mei Lin will be in india! *SCREAM*
je m'ennuie de toi!

Annnd so will Frank Drew! Suupa stoked!

... Oh and in 46 hours and 14 minutes, my math exam starts. Arrrrghhh

Goodluckem! Yes this is my blog I think I'm entitled to wish myself luck.

Moving on,

those people mentioned in my previous post are in the process of being suspended, so is the camera lady, and two other goons who tried to make a parody version of it and posted the parody on facebook. (another stupid & lame attempt to get attention, obviously)

I won't really rejoice over this fact until it has materialized.

Why do I have a strong feeling these people would be laughed at, pelted stones at & shunned upon if they were thrown into the Malaysian sekolah menegah? Instead of being famous & worshipped; these people would be made fun of & would be made a joke if left to the Malaysian thinking. I'm not being racist. I'm just saying some people here think a lot differently than people back home, not in a positive way. Too much Indian Soap Opera Drama. But to give credit not everyone is like that. Just the dumber ones. In fact you can find a handful of nice, down to earth, trustworthy people here, you just have to look harder. Thank god.

Much love
Emily.

Disgusted
Friday, October 30, 2009

Hello.
2 weeks to exams!

Anyway I'd just like to blog about what'd happened yesterday.

*No real names will be used.

I was in school yesterday, as usual and I only had classes during the second half (12.30-3.00). Anyway I was busy attempting a Business Past paper when a LOUD commotion was heard from outside the room. No one really thought much about it so we simply wrote it off as hyperactive 11/12th graders coming back from lunch. About three minutes later, a girl comes into our class, calling a girl out of class. We didn't think much about it, since it's comon to be called out of class.

When she got back, she announced that a 11th grader girl named *Dana got into a fight with *Natasha. Immediately I thought it was stupid and immature. I mean, SERIOUSLY? 18 year olds are pulling at each others' hair?

After class, we went out of course and there was a HUGE group of random people just talking aimlessly and crowding over phones as though there was gold on the phone's screen. It wasn't even just one group, it was a hallway filled with tiny groups everywhere, all huddled over a phone, or just talking at the top of thei lungs (they tend to do that here because of major inferior complex problem which they are scared you can't hear them so they think they have the need to scream at you even if you're one cm away)

Curiously, I checked out what's going on. Apparently the 'fight' between dana & natasha was more than just hair pulling. It was Dana, kicking and pushing natasha to the ground, and once natashas on the ground, dana proceeds to kick her in the face, causing her to bleed and then pulling her up by pulling hair and then punching her some more. She was bleeding and crying in the end.

These are actions I'd NEVER imagine anyone doing outside a martial arts class. I found it DISGUSTING, primitive and on top of all that, highly immature. Mind you, they are 17/18. The story goes that natasha called Dana names and that's how Dana started physically abusing her.

They both were stopped eventually by my math teacher and was called into the office. After that incident EVERYONE was talking about it like it was a trip to the candy store. "omg how awesome was that kick? Did you see the video?" that's right. They videotaped the WHOLE Goddamned thing and NO ONE around them decided to help the bleeding girl.

Is this how imhumane people are? Is this the way people are brought up to disrespect each other's morale conducts & beating each other up and not feeling REMORSEFUL after that?

Worse part? Everyone was happy about it. No one saw anything wrong about bashing a girl up in school. She might have emotional (not to mention physical) problems after this and god knows what she's cappable of going with such anger/ embarassment? (bowling for columbine, anyone?) the video got posted on facebook, a FREAKING group was made on facebook with the title "Dana OWNS!" and just about the entire highschool/ middle school kids who tries to fit in joined the group. And 80% of the school population's status on facebook was about the fight and how "oMg, kEwL" it was. I feel sick. I really do. I feel like I'm in a jungle with the popular / pretty animal trumps everyone and it's completely acceptable to the animal kingdom.

Just so you know, Dana pretty much has her head in clouds 99% of the time and she has said once "how can you not know me, I'm the prettiest girl in school!" if this was a publicity stunt to grow her fanbase, I hope she knows it only a cheap trill for guys to be watching her kick with a skirt.

What people are saying now is, "omg I better not mess with Dana, she can do stuff..." FOR PETE'S SAKE! This is what she wanted all along. For people to know who she is and FEAR herً. I guess it's working, for all the imbecilles out there.

I am thoroughly disgusted.

Much love,
Emily

HAPPY DIWALI!
sorry . well the camera isn't in my room now, so yeah i'll upload the trip pictures soonish. but can i tempt you with some other pictures of school? :)

well. i'll upload them in a bit.

today is diwali and its a big thing here, obviously (being india and all?) i was up all night yesterday watching the fireworks display in my balcony. (yes i actually did it up. i laid mats and a matress and pillows and stuff) ha.

strangely enough, there were more fireworks display today than there were yesterday, i mean usually you'd play fireworks on the eve of the celebration to usher in the celebration by midnight, but i guess things are just a little different around here :/

i do have a weeks' holiday due to this celebration and i plan to use it on ... getting back my sleep, studying for my exams, and probably sleeping some more. ive been so tired lately. as you can probably already guess by now, i am just a little over the "bored" line. and i don't seem to be in any form of mood to blog about cheery happythings but umm... i think i should establish that im still using my blog and ive not ditched, au contrare to popular beliefs. haha.

anyway, i'll just upload pictures.

I think i killed him. Haikal Azahar, Malaysian boy stuck in India. :P

This is Monster. he is reading Shivani's english notes.

Dipanjali, Jing Yi, me. and the sweeper lady who likes the guy who mans the water station.

Tamas & Rick
New dudes; one trying to be Chinese, and the other trying to be ... Edison Chen.
